Garage Well Off in Ridley Park
Thursday, January 7, 2010
-
At 16:00 hrs today, the Building assignment for Companies 7(Ridley Park),8(Prospect Park),48(Tinicum),and L43(Holmes) was struck for the area of Hinkson Blvd and Comerford avenues in Ridley Park. Pd arrived and corrected the address to 425 Deakyne ave. Engine 8 arrived first due to a fully involved large shed with moderate extension to a 15' x 25' garage, and dropped the five inch supply from Deakyne and Hinkson to the front. Engine 8 stretched the 1 3/4" handline and went in service. Engine 8's crew, utilizing the "California cut" method, opened up the garage door via K950 saw. 07-1 arrived behind Engine 8 and stretched a 2 1/2" to the garage rear. Snozzle 8 proceeded to Comerford and Deakyne and after removing the fencing between yards, stretched an additional 2 1/2", while 48's crew helped "open up" the structures. A run over supply line couldn't stop crews from making the aggressive knock and bringing this job under control quickly. Special thanks to the Pd that helped with the handjack and the hook-up.

-
The Memorial Committee held a social event at Barnaby's, Sunday 11-15-09. The social was an all welcome to attend event, for a thank you to all that have helped get where we are today, and to disseminate information on further events to come. It was a good time, good food and good people. The Eagles game was on a large screen tv for all to watch, although not the best of games, everyone still had a good time. $10 got you in with all the food and liquid you could consume. Well worth the money to eat, drink, watch football and shoot the breeze with many friends.
